While the shift from papers to digital devices has made reading the news much more convenient, this convenience has come at the cost of our ability to identify reliable content. Rather than mindlessly swallowing whatever is served up in your feed, New York Times wants you to reclaim control over which information is presented to you, to read critically in search of the truth - to read Read Against the Machine.

Application
The AI Re-trainer will “train” your news feed to generate quality content by searching the good stuff while you’re away, so the next time you open your news feed it will be devoid of fluff, and left only with reliable information.

CAPTCHA quizzes
In addition to a digital app to improve the machine, the campaign also includes quizzes to help people assess their own skills. In lieu of identifying street signs and storefronts in a CAPTCHA grid, NYTimes will ask users to differentiate factual statements from opinions.
